Abstract : THE ROLE OF JOB DESCRIPTIONS IN ATTRACTING QUALIFIED CANDIDATES
This study examines the role of job descriptions in attracting qualified candidates, focusing on their impact on candidate quality, application rates, and recruitment success. A survey design is employed due to its effectiveness in collecting data from a diverse population. A sample size of 310 respondents is derived using Taro Yamane's formula to ensure representativeness. The case study is conducted in Kaduna, targeting a healthcare organization known for its detailed job descriptions. The reliability coefficient score of 0.87 indicates high reliability. Findings suggest that well-crafted job descriptions significantly attract qualified candidates, increasing application rates and enhancing recruitment success. Recommendations include investing in training for HR personnel on writing effective job descriptions and regularly updating job descriptions to reflect current role requirements.
